Down to The Wire
What a week of golf, one of the closest majors in a while... At one stage on Sunday evening there was 6 players all tied for the lead entering the back nine, in the end last years rookie of the year Colin Morikawa won by 2 shots from Paul Casey, not many players have won a major so early in their careers and Morikawa is definitely one to watch, I don't think this will be his only major in his career. The Pro's USPGA Draw was just as close, the top 2 only one point between them, well done to Steve Hubbard who had 13 points total selecting Dustin Johnson, Tony Finau and Jason Day, unfortunately Sam Wilcock had 14 points selecting Bryson DeChambeau, Tony Finau and Matt Wolff, all the results attached below, thanks to all members who entered the draw and the next event will be the US Open mid September. Founder Members Trophy
Another weekend of competitive golf at HHGC, with the top 16 qualifying for the Wednesday night play off. Leading the way is Danny Stott with 63, Danny is two shots clear of Mark Spendler and James Richardson on 65, and then Micheal Parker and Dan Sheard on 66. Plenty of golf to be played over the next 18 holes, good luck to all who've qualified and the results will be in next weeks newsletter. |
Clark Brewery AM-AM
32 teams entered the Am-Am, weather was great, members and guests enjoying the golf and hospitality, and some exceptional scoring too. Winning with a fantastic score of 97 points were the team of James Richardson, James Byrne, Fran Nelson and Michael Royce, well done lads and nice to see some new names coming out on top although JB off 25 doing quite a bit of damage on the scorecard, I'm sure the handicap committee will be out to adjust that mark! Finishing top in Division One was Sam Wilcock, Dan Sheard, Neil Bates and their guest John Sikora with 91 points. In Division Two the winners were Mick Foster, John Senior, Joe Whittington and Steve Adkin, 95 points another great score These events wouldn't happen without the support of local sponsors so thanks to Clark's for their continued support and also to all members and guests that entered teams... All results attached here.

#468FCD ;text-align:left">The importance of being fittedEveryone would like to be told they’re a ‘great iron player’, but you’re making it a lot harder for yourself if you don’t have irons that are matched-up to get the best out of your swing. |
All of the world’s best golfers get their equipment regularly tweaked on Tour – you’ve probably seen each brand’s tour van sitting alongside the range when watching golf on TV – which goes to show just how important it is. We have a fantastic set-up at Hanging Heaton Golf Club that will make the fitting experience a really enjoyable one for you. One of the brands you can try is Callaway, who have a brilliant iron model called Apex, which offers playability in a Tour-preferred shape that you’re going to love.
