Finally a Full Weekend of Golf
With the weather looking on the up hopefully, we won’t have any more storms coming through for a while. This weekend was the final event of the Edmondson IT winter Stableford series, with plenty to win and lose over this final 16 hole event it was sure to be a good one. Again, there were some great scores recorded especially when the conditions and winter weather imperfections on course make it that bit harder. In Division One the winner was Honest Nige Clough with 35 points, beating the consistent Joe Ratcliffe who scored 33 points. This final event affected the Order of Merit for Division 1, Nige was in 4th place entering this weekend but with the win and the others not getting enough points, Nige finished in 2nd place. Joe topped the table and won the overall winner’s prize, his worst finish in all five qualifiers this year was 3rd! That’s great golf over such a tough winter, well done Joe. In Division Two one of my latest pupils came out on top! Danny Stott with 33 points beat Carl Farrar and Bob Smith with a better score on the back 8 holes, well done Danny keep up the good work. The final results for the Order of Merit in Division Two was Carl Farrar in first place beating my experienced assistant Ian Sidebottom by 2 points. Again, Carl’s last round made the difference. Well done guys and hopefully the form will carry on into the season. In Division 3 there has been a bit of a one-man dominance, somehow avoiding the handicap committee... Another victory for Franny Nelson 36 points, followed by the Inform Paul O’Hara only one shot back with 35 points. Well done to both of you and you’ve both shown great form and results throughout the winter. The order of merit finished the same Franny winning by six points over Paul. The presentation will be on Friday 27th March and then followed by DJ John with his vinyl… Hopefully, a few of you will show up to support the winners, Sponsors Edmondson IT and DJ John.
