Competition news

Edmondson IT Stableford Results

Some unbelievable scoring for winter in the 5th Edmondson IT Stableford series, Carl ‘El Bandito’ Farrar with an outrageous 46 points winning the Third Division by six-points looks like he’s favourite to lose a few shots before this weekend’s competition, great score Carl. Winning the First Division was Mo Coe with 41 points, extending his lead to nine-points clear with one round to go in the winter series. Winning Division two was Graham Finch with 39 points beating Bob Smith on a countback.

Division one

1) Mo Coe 41 pts
2) Paul Ratcliffe 40 pts

Division two

1) Graham Finch 39 pts
2) Bob Smith 39 pts

Division three

1) Carl Farrar 46 pts
2) Steve Farrar 40 pts

Halifax/Huddersfield Winter Alliance

Tuesday, we held the Alliance, we got a lot of great feedback on the condition of the course from the members who played from other clubs. Big thanks go to Danny and Simon who have worked hard over the last couple of months improving the course and its set up.

Myself and partner Steve Leather won with a score of 43 points winning the Pro-Am section by four-points. I have played with Steve a couple of times over the last month and I would say at present the best 9 Handicap golfer in the club, his style is un coachable but he hits 95% of his shots bullet straight, I’m sure this comment might wind a couple of members up but will only help them to step up their game.

Ladies news

All the news from the ladies...

I was almost expecting to see animals lined up in twos on the course on Sunday, and a carpenter making a boat. A very wet day to play golf to say the least followed by slightly better conditions during the early part of the week. I’m guessing the Green Keepers smiled though following their maintenance work as I’m sure the rain was advantageous.

I’m delighted to report that the Charity Motown & Soul Night on Saturday 23rd March is almost sold out. There are a just few tickets left which can be purchased at the bar. Monies raised from this event will be donated to Crohns & Colitis UK.

As we say goodbye to Andrew as President this week, we welcome Johnny as he takes up the role. I’d like to give Johnny our kind regards and best wishes from The Ladies Section.

Simulator news

Simulator Opening Night

Unfortunately, all tickets have now been sold, all 110 of them thank you to all who have purchased tickets. I will hold a list of reserves if anyone gives back word, so please let me know if you want to go on the reserve list.

Also from this weekend, raffle tickets will be on sale to win the opportunity to play the last five holes at Wentworth with Graeme Storm on the simulator opening night, tickets are £2 or three tickets for £5.

Pro's news

Fast Fives

Will the clocks changing at the end of this month, starting the first week in April the fast fives competition will start again for 2019. Watch this space for further details and we are looking at adding another evening to give more opportunities for members to get involved.
