The Postman Delivers Going into the Houston Open and disappointingly just missing out on a Masters Invitation in the World Matchplay, Ian Poulter had to win and after a first round 73 his chances looked bleak. But a change of putter and awesome golf, Poulter fought back to leading the tournament going into the back 9 on Sunday, then Beau Hossler birdied 4 holes on the bounce to take the lead by one shot playing the last. Poulter had a 12 foot putt for birdie to force a play-off, he holed it pumping his chest Ryder Cup style it was like Medinah all over again.
In the play-off, the postman made 4 to win the hole, qualify for The Masters and most importantly gained valuable Ryder Cup points. I’ve been fortunate to have met him a couple of times and in the background he’s quite a reserved character but on the golf course a lion and a true fighter a player we need on our Ryder Cup team.
