M3 and M4 has arrived!

For the last few weeks we have all sat and watched the big guns using the Twist Face technology and now you will be able to have a go! Hopefully the off centre hits will go just as far as the good ones, this is the feedback from most of the guys on tour using this equipment. We're just waiting on the demo bag to arrive for you to get out on the course and trial!

PING Fitting Experience

Last Friday, myself and the Club vice-captain Chris Fletcher went down to Gainsborough for Chris to be custom fitted for some new clubs with the help of Paul Rymer (PING Club fitter) and TrackMan; he was fitted for a G400 Max new driver, G400 5 wood and set of G400 irons.

There were some major differences in the distance and dispersion and from watching the ball flight to the new figures recorded the clubs to be purchased will make a difference.

When we fit a customer we look at five things: Club Speed, Ball Speed, Spin Rate, carry and Distance. Example below:

Chris’s Club speed for his driver was 95.3 mph, ball speed is 136.8, spin rate 1842 revolutions per minute, carry distance 172.8 yards and total distance of 212.5 yards.

The G400 Max driver Club speed was 95.1 mph (slower), ball speed is 140.3 (quicker) but one of the major keys is Spin rate up to 2796 revs per minute to get the best performance you need to create somewhere between 2000 and 3000 revs for the driver to perform at its optimum, this then helps distance so he’s achieved 30 yards extra carry and 12 yards total distance.

The above explanation just proves how good technology is, and how the correct tools can improve the golfer in many ways.

European Tour Perth Super 6 Tournement/PGA Tour

Well one of my selections made the top 24 to go to the 6 hole matchplay, Thorbjorn Olesen, but was knocked out in the 2nd round! I think this type of format is good for the game and maybe as a club we should run a similar format and help to speed up the game. When the matchplay started Kiradech Aphibarnrat had just qualified in a 5 hole play-off and the way his luck went he was destined to become the eventual winner and has a great game for Matchplay golf.

This week the Tour goes to Muscat, Oman and my pick for the week is Alex Levy hopefully he will come up trumps!

The PGA tour goes to Riveria and Tigers back out on the links, hopefully another week of playing 4 rounds and increasing his fitness. The feedback from him is good but he needs to keep fit if he’s ever going to get back to the best of his ability! My pick to finish top 5 or each way is Ollie Schniederjans, over the last few events has played nicely and the PGA tour have big expectations for this young golfer.

Winter Fourball Betterball Stableford

Our club golfers seem to amaze me with some of the scores, in the 1st Division 46 points on Saturday by Matty Glynn and Adam Swinden look to be the winning score for the weekend. The forecast/weather on Sunday was like Armageddon, but in came another 46 points also, beating them on the back nine were Dan Bradley and Dan Sheard. Unbelievable score in those conditions and they will now represent the club in the Daily Mail Foursomes and I’m guessing they have probably never played that format before so could be interesting!

The winners of the 2nd Division were Dave Barker and Archie Lourie with a respectable 42 points closely followed by Richard Clayton and Chris Fletcher with 41 points beating Chris Blakeley and Gary Sifleet on the back nine.

Well done to all the prize winners
