Latest news around the Club

Congratulations goes to David Whittington (Rabbits Captain) and Martin Howe on winning the Heavy Woollen Rabbits Jack Roberts Trophy with a great better ball score of 48 points.

Well done to Scot Minto who finally got his handicap to 0, over the last few weeks Scot has produced some great scores and hopefully this will carry on to the end of the season.

Support needed! The scratch team have an important couple of fixtures coming up and it would be nice if some of the members could come and support the team, with two good results the team could get promoted to Division one, something that has never happened in the clubs history.

Great News our inexperienced junior team have qualified to the HHDUGC play-offs, a great achievement with such a young team, they play the semi-final and final at Bradley Park on Sunday, 27 August, if any of you are free I’m sure your support will help.

Seniors' Open

On Tuesday, 5 September the Seniors will be holding the First Seniors open at Hanging Heaton. Cost is £15 per pair, there will be various prizes to be won but the first prize is a voucher to the value of £125 each to be spent in the pro-shop, this is due to Oak Park Care Homes who have kindly sponsored the event. Hopefully our members will support the event and pass on the flyer to other golfing colleagues at various clubs.

THE BENEFITS OF COUNTERBALANCING

With counterbalanced putters the key change is heavier heads, which help fight twisting to make your stroke more accurate. This head weight alone would ruin feel, so another difference is extra mass above your hands in the butt of the grip, which balances the feel of the putter.

This Titleist Scotty Cameron Futura Dual Balance putter is a great example. It utilises longer shafts from 36” to 40” to get the 50g weight in the butt of the grip above your hands, while 50g head weights further stabilise your stroke.

As you can see from the images above, this beautiful Cleveland RTX 3 wedge comes in three different sole grinds, so rather than being stuck with one stock option we can really personalise it to your needs during a fitting.

Its V-LG sole suits firmer turf and shallower swings, the V-FG has more bounce to aid steeper swings and hitting off softer turf, while the V-MG sits somewhere in between for all-round versatility. The RTX 3 also has deeper, narrower and sharper grooves that aid consistent spin control from all lies, plus laser milling helps roughen the faces for maximum spin on greenside shots.
